Broker's Comments
Dutch barges, once the equivalent of todays artic trucks transporting goods all around the waterways of Europe are now more commonly seen as residential liveaboards or luxury holiday accommodation. The Luxemotor barges particularly lend themselves well as houseboats with their distinctive beamy hulls and extremely solid build quality.
I was extremely excited to be offered the opportunity to go aboard this particular barge, having seen her come back to the Island following her extensive refit over in Hythe. She came back on her own hull, apparently averaging 7 knots showing that although she really is a luxurious living space she is very much in commission and a fully seaworthy vessel too
The quality of workmanship involved in this refit is incredible. The current owner, a former carpenter has overseen or undertaken everything with exacting standards and she really is stunning. There are still plenty of traditional elements, the wheelhouse door has an original brass porthole for instance but the fusion of nautical and ultra chic living style I think really works on this boat.
A luxury liveaboard, holiday home, B&B on either a permanent residential mooring or back cruising the canals; she'll be whatever you want her to be with all the comforts there to be enjoyed
