Islander Yachts The company, which began life as McGlasson Boat Company was an offshoot of Columbia Yachts in Costa Mesa, California was one of the early west coast production sailboat builders started with a 24ft design in the late 60's. Later known as Wayfarer Marine, the company was firmly established as Islander Yachts by the time Rick Perry-designed the 32 MK II and was introduced in 1976. Over 200 Islander 32 MK II's were built during a four-year production run. Although Islander Yachts went out of business in 1986 there are are still plenty of this popular model to be found in marinas across the country.
