Total length 60' (anchor to transom-mounted dinghy davit in raised position, with dinghy stored in topside cradle).

Airdraft can be reduced to 24'6" by retracting antennas (one would need a slight modification to be retractable).

Built from original custom plans by Steve Seaton and Charles Neville, who were partners at the time, and constructed at the Durbeck yard in Bradenton, FL.

Here is descriptive detail from the designers:

"A ballasted <4000 lb> displacement type of moderately shallow draft, she has an easy entry and full body sections. A full-length keel and a large rudder contribute to directional stability, even in an overtaking quartering wave... A large 34"-dia. propeller turns in a shallow tunnel... Topside she has ample bulwarks and railings and broad deck areas...."

Heavily built in fiberglass reinforced plastic -- solid below the waterline and Airex-cored above the waterline. Decks and cabin tops are Airex-cored. Core samples (see photos) reveal how robustly this boat is built.

Hull and topsides are painted with AwlGrip -- hull 2018 and house 2013 -- and the appearance is excellent.

Deck traffic areas are painted with non-skid. A new application of KiwiGrip has been professionally applied around the entire exterior since the photos and were taken.

Fuel, water and holding tanks are FRP.
Fuel -- 3 tanks -- 100 gallon day tank, 740 gallon port tank, 545 gallon starboard tank
Water -- 3 tanks -- 300 gallon forward tank, two-120 gallon aft tanks
Holding -- 2 tanks -- 15 gallon forward tank and 20 gallon aft tank

Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

The purpose of this boat is easily discerned when approaching her -- she is clearly designed and equipped for safe and easy cruising. Her broad hull, low profile, sweeping unbroken sheer line, high bow, stack and antennas, and broad, secure walkways around deck are instantly recognizable as derived from classic naval seagoing designs. There is nothing in current production that embodies these classic elements so completely. Yet the interior is contemporary, attractive and extremely accommodating and can be compared to current cruising trawler models.

Board amidships -- wide decks with non-skid ring the boat without steps or other impediments. The interior is accessed from port or starboard dutch-style pilothouse doors, or from a companionway entry aft into the master stateroom.

The pilothouse affords good forward visibility, a bench seat, and storage drawers and cabinets. The helm is uncluttered, with instrumentation overhead -- clean and straightforward.

The galley was completely remodeled 2012-13 with quartz countertops and a contemporary design. New appliances include a Smeg 4-burner propane cooktop and Fratelli Onofri propane oven. Refrigeration and freezer storage are capacious. Storage for cookware and dishware and the food necessary for long cruising is easy-to-access and abundant.

The saloon features a dining table that is extendable, a large sofa, storage and bookshelves, a diesel-fired heater, and plenty of windows, with wood blinds. There is enough floor space to set up an additional airbed if necessary for extra guests.

Joinery throughout is mahogany, and the floors are Brazilian rosewood -- some of it covered with rubber and carpeting. Most of the floors and the floors of lockers have SoundDown for sound attenuation. And the engineroom is sound insulated.

The master stateroom is amazingly large, with a walkaround pedestal queen berth, an incredible number of lockers and drawers, and with Bosch washer and dryer concealed in a cabinet. The master head with separate shower enclosure has also been remodeled.

Forward of the pilothouse is a workshop and a guest stateroom in the forepeak with vee-berth (twin singles). Another head and shower (also remodeled) is adjacent to starboard. A few steps down is the engineroom access door, which opens into full standing headroom at the entry. Regular engineroom checks and access for maintenance could not be easier.

From the pilothouse the flybridge can be accessed directly via an overhead hatch and ladder, or via the sidedecks and the cabintops. A commanding 360 view with a big, comfortable bench seat is provided. Shade is from a sturdy bimini top with its structure built from aluminum tubing. Solar panels are mounted atop the bimini. The cabintop above the saloon provides another bench seat with storage, and space for a table and chairs.

The lazarette locker is deep and spacious. Accessed through a watertight Bomar hatch, the lazarette stores lines and fenders, houses the steering gear and watermaker, and can contain many other items including dive gear, spares, etc.

Broker's Comments

This striking Seaton-Neville 55 Trawler was custom designed for long-range extended cruising by a couple with occasional guests. She exudes self-sufficiency and capability and looks the part -- long and sleek with a "go-anywhere" demeanor!

The sellers have owned and cruised this boat for 20 years -- exploring the Caribbean, Central and South America (Atlantic and Pacific), Mexico, and the Pacific Northwest. This is a boat capable of extended voyaging, with a 3000-4000 NM range, paravane stabilizers, and the systems necessary for independent operation.

She has been maintained carefully by scrupulous owners who depended upon reliable operation in remote areas, and has undergone periodic refits and upgrades so that she is truly beautiful and contemporary in her accommodations and is mechanically ready to cruise. Spares, tools and other provisions for self-reliance are provided, and the inventory has been optimized from years of experience.

There are not many boats like this available. People seeking an affordable, capable and ready long-range bluewater cruiser, but not an expensive Kadey-Krogen or Nordhavn may think that the only choices are cruising sailboats. Yet this trawler has the design pedigree, the economy, the equipment and the experience to fulfill those dreams. And -- face it -- cruising under power has its advantages!
