The Nanni motor drives a 35Kva Leyroy-Somer generator which supplies power through a Schnieder Altivar 71 variateur to the electric propulsion system and also to a Phoenix Multiplus 24/3000/70 convertor charger. This is the heart and mind of the system and it gives priority to the 28Kw (38hp) Leroy-Somer PLS 180 LG electric propulsion motor which drives a traditional 3 blade prop. As torque is not dependant on engine RPM there is almost linear power delivery from 10 to 900 prop. RPM making the boat very manoeuvrable even at low prop. speed. Efficiency and economy is impressive and we are informed that fuel consumption varies between 2 to 3 litres per hour.
