North Pacific Yachts was started in 2004 to produce cruising yachts based on the long experience of the two owners, John and Trevor Brice. The yachts are built to ABYC standards in a factory part owned by NPY in China. Their yachts, beginning with the North Pacific 43 Pilothouse, have established a reputation for quality and performance with more than 50 yachts delivered. The North Pacific 39 Pilothouse is based on the 43 and continues that standard.
This is essentially a new yacht. The advantage is that it comes equipped with $85,000 of desirable options and extras and is available now, rather than being on a one year wait list. This particular yacht was constructed in 2009 and used as the boat show demonstrator for the line. You can read the extensive description, much of which is quoted here, at
www.northpacificyachts.com/39/exterior/html.
The hull length is described as 39' but the overall length is 41'3" or 40' with the anchor removed. This is a sedan style pilothouse with the salon aft, raised pilothouse and single forward master's suite. There is no wood on the outside of the yacht, only stainless steel and fiberglass. Exterior maintenance is minimal and durability is maximum.
The hull mold of the 39 was made from the mold for the well known and respected NP 43 which has proven to be very seaworthy. The hull is a deep V with the aft end of the hull rising into a hard chine with the flat back end and deep keel. The hard chines help reduce the roll and the deep V eliminates any snap roll that could otherwise occur with hard chines. This hull is very desirable for coastal cruising because of its superb initial stability.
The hull is a solid fiberglass hull about 1/2" thick on the sides and approximately 7/8" thick at the waterline and lower. there is no coring. A vinylester resin, as opposed to a cheaper polyester resin, is used in the outer layers of the hull. This resin helps to reduce the chance that blisters will form. Below the waterline is an epoxy barrier making blistering even less likely. Reinforcement is added with molded FRP grid (hollow stringers) bonded throughout the hull bottom.
The superstructure is made of fiberglass with structural coring as required (Nida coring on decks-this is a polypropylene honeycomb that is impervious to moisture). The hull and superstructure are formed in two pieces and are joined with epoxy and screwed through, forming a strong bond that lasts. The factory uses a time consuming, hand-laid method of forming all the fiberglass that results in a strong, quality finished product that lasts.
Tankage includes two 180 gallon fuel tanks for a total capacity of 360 gallons, a single 200 gallon water tank and a 50 gallon holding tank

The NP 39 begins with entry to the 36 inch deep integral swim step with foldable "U" shaped stainless railings and through a door in the transom to the cockpit or through doors on either side directly into the pilot house. A large sliding door provides entry from the cockpit to the full width salon. Alternatively a stainless steel ladder leads to the upper deck and forward via exterior stairs on either side to the pilot house doors or the fore deck.
The main salon is trimmed in teak with generous windows providing panoramic views. Seven windows, four of which open, provide view, light and ventilation. There is 20" of space between the top fo the forward cabinets and the pilothouse so that a person standing in the salon can also see out of the three pilothouse windows contributing to the light and spaciousness of the interior. On this yacht the windows are fitted with custom curtains. A stereo sound system and flat screen TV are provided in the salon with an exterior TV antenna on the folding radar arch.
To starboard is the built in "L" shaped seating and salon table. The table and seating can be quickly configured as a double bed if needed. Cabinet storage space is provided under the settee as well as along the bulkhead forward. On this yacht, a washer/dryer unit is installed just forward of the settee on the starboard side. The salon is well lit with halogen lighting throughout and reading lights in the corners.
Across from the settee on the port side is the galley. The solid surface counter runs the length of the salon with ample space for food preparation, double stainless steel sinks complete with drain board between, a single handle American Standard faucet with pullout spout and generous storage below the counter. An electric Princess stove and overn is mid counter. At the forward end is an "L" shaped counter with cabinets above with wine glass storage under the cabinets, a toaster and coffee maker in the corner and a microwave installed above in the cabinets. A two door Novakool refrigerator/freezer finished in teak stands built in to the right of the counter.
From the salon up teak stairs is the pilothouse. The helm is to starboard with a fully adjustable and reclining captain's seat in front of a teak steering wheel and raised dash featuring complete engine and system instrumentation and the Raynav "E" series chart plotter display. A window defrosting system keeps the pilot house windows clear. The starboard pilothouse door is immediately to the right of the captain's chair. Visibility from the pilothouse is excellent in all directions including aft. In addition, a rear view camera and video display enhance the operator's ability to see what is happening on the stern. A 5' bench seat for observers, complete with a hinged table, helps make long range cruising an enjoyable experience for everyone. This bench seat also converts to a single sleeping berth by extending 2' on the end and becoming wide enough for sleeping with the hinged leaf. Sliding doors on both sides of the pilothouse make access to the bow and fly bridge easy, and at the same time can provide a nice breeze while underway. Morse engine controls, engine gauges-including fuel totalizer- bow and stern thruster control, windlass control, tank tender, horn and Raynav chart plotter give the captain full control of the yacht.
A teak staircase leads from the pilothouse down to the master stateroom and head. On the port side across from the head are two cabinets and a shelf for linens and towels. The head is well-lit with three halogen lights, one in the separate shower stall, and one above the counter providing ample light. Inside the shower stall there is a comfortable seat, making showering safe and relaxing. Set in the solid surface counter top is a stainless steel sink. The head is equipped with a reliable Tecma toilet.
The master stateroom is spacious and comfortable. It features a large island Queen V bed with a comfortable 5' fabric covered foam mattress and two individual reading lights along with two halogen lights. There is a large storage space under the mattress, two long drawers, and two hanging lockers. The stateroom is also equipped with two opening, screened portholes and an opening, screened Lewmar hatch above the bed.
Cabin heating is provided with a diesel Hurricane II Hydronic forced air heating system with three zones, defrost, instant water heat and electric element.

This yacht is in new condition. The anchor has never been in the water. The inflatable dinghy has never been out of its storage bag, the outboard is unused and the 600 foot roll of mooring line never deployed. This particular yacht was the boat show demonstrator for the line and still appears ready for the show.
(Quoting from the NP39 web page). The gangway around the bow is accessed through the pilothouse or the upper deck. It is protected from the water by a high freeboard and heavy duty 1-1/4" stainless steel handrails. Courtesy lights around the gangway light up the non-skid fiberglass surface making walking around the gangway even on a rough night easier. At the bow is a Vetus Alexander III windlass with 1100 pounds of lifting capacity. The NP39 is equipped with a 45 pound plow anchor and 300 feet of galvanized chain providing a good grip for the yacht. Two separate anchor chain lockers are provided, one to either side of the Vetus windlass. Fresh or salt water anchor chain and deck wash down outlets are provided in the chain lockers which are accessed from the fore deck through deck hatches. The bow pulpit extension which carries the stored anchor is hinged so that the overall length of the yacht can be easily reduced for storage.
A custom drip edge is installed above the windows and doors on the sides of the pilot house.
At the stern of the yacht there is a fully covered cockpit which can be accessed from the flybridge ladder or salon. The cockpit features a custom canvas enclosure. A transom door leads to the swim platform making it very easy to get on and off the vessel. The swim platform is 36" fore and aft and large enough for chairs making a great place to enjoy a nice sunset. The swim platform is also an excellent place for fishing or installing a dinghy davit. The swim step is equipped with the optional, folding stainless steel "U" shaped rails and a retractable swim step. A portable electric BBQ normally occupies a space in the cockpit for quick preparation of the catch of the day.
A large, well lit lazarette is accessed through a hatch on the cockpit floor that is easily lifted on gas struts. The lazarette utilizes the entire length and width of the cockpit and even extends into the integrated swim platform. This provides an enormous amount of space for extra equipment or storage.
The upper deck is accessed by a ladder on the port side of the cockpit or by exterior lighted stairs on either side of the pilot house. This allows access to the bow from the cockpit without going through the salon. On the port side of the upper deck is a bench seat and on the starboard side is an "L" shaped bench with storage underneath. The single helm seat swivels to provide extra seating when not underway. Engine controls, engine gauges, bow thruster and windlass control as well as a chart plotter display are provided at the flybridge helm. The radar arch can be folded for bridge clearance. The optional, remote controlled searchlight is mounted just ahead of the flybridge wind screen. The flybridge is enclosed from the radar arch forward with canvas to stay dry and comfortable in adverse weather. A reel with 600 feet of mooring line is provided on the aft starboard corner of the upper deck. To the right of the helm station is a portable, electric ice maker.

Broker's Comments
This is an essentially new, barely used North Pacific 39 Pilothouse , a well-built yacht designed for comfortable, long-range travel even in miserable weather conditions. It offers a solid hull, heavy duty stainless fittings, and a spacious, beautifully hand crafted teak interior. The full beam salon, raised 360 degree view pilot house and top quality equipment give the yacht exceptional capability, comfort and safety. This yacht was the factory demonstrator displayed at recent yacht shows and has been equipped by the owner with $85,000 of desirable options. The anchor, inflatable dinghy, outboard and most of the mooring line hve never been in the water. The main engine has 140 hours and the generator only 7.9 hours. This is a great opportunity to purchase a not-yet-broken-in North Pacific 39 Pilothouse with all the options at a bargain price.
