The QSB 6.7 litre engine is a very reliable work horse with quick, easy start. It provides smooth and quiet running and meets the most modern emissions standards. With a large rudder plus bow thruster it is easy to move this boat side ways with little more than 4-6 feet forward and aft travel.
5 Northstar AGM house batteries (over 1000 A-hr in total), 1 AGM start battery and 1 AGM battery to power the bow thruster. Solar panels keep the batteries charged while mooring March thru October here in the Northwest. Shore power is used November thru February.
Solar Power System-Solara M Series (4 Panels), Victron MPPT Controllers (4ea) w/Bluetooth connectivity
Watermaker is Spectra Catalina 34OZ (14 gal/hr, self flushing).

Board from astern via a large swim platform though the transom door. Alternatively, two cockpit side entry doors provide convenient access in various mooring situations. The covered cockpit is large enough for several deck chairs. The lazarette below provides a significant storage volume. Beautiful highly polished hawse-cleats make for convenient attachment of mooring lines.
The sturdily-built wide sliding aft cabin door provides entry to the full-beam saloon, which is much larger than would be expected in a boat this size. The galley is forward starboard and features custom-ordered granite countertops, a 9 cu ft Novakool over/under refrigerator/freezer, Force 10, 3-burner propane stove plus a Panasonic microwave. Just aft of the galley is an open space with storage lockers -- intended for a comfortable chair or recliner. To port in the salon is the convertible L-shaped dinette (which converts to a large double berth) with a storage cabinet and countertop/bar forward of it. Just forward and down is the day head -- complete with shower capability -- and an entry door into the engine room.
The pilothouse is just two steps up from the salon and integrated into the living spaces. The L-shaped dinette allows three or four guests to enjoy the pilothouse while underway. The helm station is to starboard, and features a sliding helm seat with a moveable bolster for stand-up leaning if desired. Forward visibility from the helm station is excellent, and because of the low pilothouse design it's possible to view the aft quarters directly from the helm seat also (unusual in a pilothouse model). Sliding pilothouse doors port and starboard allow easy access to the dock, the foredeck or to the flybridge. Hawse cleats are mounted directly outside the pilothouse doors enabling the captain to easily manage the midship lines while docking or tying alongside.
Footwells with high bulwarks provide security when exiting the pilothouse, and the wide, full-size steps to the flybridge make access safe and easy. There are no vertical ladders!
The master cabin has a queen bed (with hinge and lifters for access to storage below), hanging lockers port and starboard, storage drawers, two storage cabinets, bookshelves, and separate head and shower compartments.
The flybridge has two pedestal seats and an L-shaped settee. As with the entire exterior of the boat, the design of the flybridge is uncluttered and intended to be simple to maintain and easy to clean. There is a full enclosure provided for sun shade or warmth is the cooler boating seasons.
Cabin heat is supplied to the interior using a Webasto Airtop 55 Diesel furnace.
Equipped with a custom lighting package -- boat deck lighting, exterior courtesy lighting, and interior red LED night lighting in engineroom, salon, galley, pilothouse, stateroom and heads.

Broker's Comments
Although the Helmsman Trawlers 38E Pilothouse comes with many luxury features as standard, this 2017 example has many optional factory additions, and extra equipment added during commissioning. These include an extensive Garmin navigational package, high-wattage solar capability (with panels on the pilothouse roof and the bimini top), watermaker, engine horsepower upgrade, cockpit side entry doors, full flybridge enclosure, colored hull with accent stripe, Phifertex screening around the top deck rails, safety handrails (staples), davit crane, satellite TV and much more.
With engine hours at a modest 220 she is as close to a new boat as you will see on the used market.
Visit the Helmsman Trawlers website to view all the standard specifications of the 38E. This offering is the most current "E" series boat.
I have cruised the 38E model for many hundreds of miles in recent years. The boat is easily handled around marinas, comfortable and stable on long passages and has the advantage of being one of the most attention-getting boats pulling into a marina. The Kingston Gray hull with its dark gray accent stripe is distinctive, and perfectly complemented by the custom gray canvas work.
Items photographed in this listing but not for sale with the boat are the dinghy and the swivel chair in the saloon.
