VIRTUAL TOUR - VIDEO - 80 TO 100 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS VESSEL!
The Helmsman Trawlers 31 Sedan is the contemporary version of the venerable Camano 31. While the interior is completely different, and the exterior appearance has been modernized, the hull is still the same great Bob Warman design -- all the desirable capabilities of a real full-keel trawler, but with a turn of speed too. Intended to be extremely live-able for a couple, this design features a genuine stateroom, separate head and shower compartments, a generous galley, and storage everywhere. The flybridge is comparatively enormous, and both helm stations offer excellent visibility. This model was custom built with several unique features -- upgraded interior joinery with full use of teak and holly throughout (the standard model employs some fiberglass components), custom salon layout, storage/seating bench topside, hardtop cockpit cover, Fighting Lady Yellow hull color, custom-ordered leather salon barrel chairs, premium (i.e. expensive) custom mattress and more.
The custom salon interior, without a settee and a fixed table, warrants some commentary. Having spent considerable time aboard this boat in port and underway I can say several things: 1) it is very nice and rare to have comfortable chairs on a small boat, 2) the flexibility provided by the space is tremendous (I've even seen a toddler's playpen set up in the salon), and 3) a compact folding table serves very well when dining but gets out of the way otherwise.
Powered by a Hyundai SeasAll V6 diesel which must be experienced to be appreciated for its smooth, quiet power.
A perfect boat for northwest cruising -- economical, compact, generous interior AND exterior living spaces that make it more comfortable and spacious than its size implies, and with a very capable hull. And it's build like a real yacht -- stout, well-finished and with great attention-to-detail. This is not a mass-produced plastic boat.
